The problem is that I live in the sticks and would have to make a two hour round trip to be sure of finding something that wasn't Verbatim. Before agreeing to anything Apple want me to buy some different discs and see how they behave. I then performed a hardware test which didn't show anything wrong with the system. I was instructed to create a burn folder and try burning first a data disc (one JPEG file) and then a DVD from an image file but neither worked. Click Add Video button to import your MP4. Download and launch EaseFab Video Converter on Windows PC or Mac. Here we will take EaseFab Video Converter for Windows as the example. PS: The step-by-step guide is almost the same on PC and Mac. I have been on the phone to Apple care and tried various options. Preparation: Free Download EaseFab Video Converter to Convert MP4 to LG TV Friendly Codec/Format. dmg but it still wouldn't burn with the disc utility. I also tried changing the file extension from. I have used it to create 2 functioning DVDs, the third threw up a sector error during verification. This turned out to be 11.0.1 (presumably I can no longer download 11.0.4) but it does actually work. I shall also buy another make of DVD disc as a test.įollowing your advice I uninstalled 11.0.6 and re-intalled from my original disk. I have contacted Apple support and am waiting for their reply. As it won't recognise that it has disc in it, you can't ask it to eject the disc, let alone burn it. It just puts up a "waiting for the drive message". In that case, you can call IDvdInfo2::GetDVDTextStringAsNative to retrieve the string as a raw byte array. If the text string uses any other character set, the method returns EFAIL. That worked but the Hardware Utility now refuses to recognise any disc. If the text string uses ASCII encoding, the method converts the string to a wide-character string. I did manage to copy some photos on to DVD via Toast as a test. It showed me the menu, allowed me to select the first option (but not the second - that just lead to grinding noises) but the recording stopped well before the end so the disc is useless. The disc was apparently readable by my Sony DVD player. At that point the following message popped up: The encoding and multiplexing went well, the writing to disc went well until it came to writing the lead out. ![]() Hoping that perhaps any problem might have resolved itself, I had another go with Toast. When however, both Toast and the Apple utility failed, I had another go with iDVD and actually got a readable DVD. It was then that I decided to buy Toast because i thought it would have a higher spec. I finally tried iDVD because I had actually used it a few days earlier to make a DVD but was disappointed when the picture kept freezing at irregular intervals. I tried burning a disc image with Apple Disc Utility and received messages saying "burning to disc" and "finishing burning" within seconds of each other, whereupon the disc popped out.
